We love what we do – so you can depend on us to do it well.

When we’re not servicing, restoring and modifying Land Rover for customers, we’re out in ours.

With many years of experience, including working for main dealers and running a mobile Land Rover specialist business, there isn’t much that Benjamin Stowe does not know about Land Rovers.

Land Rover restoration – a lifelong passion

Black Paw 4×4 is run by Ben Stowe, an award-winning specialist in classic Land Rover restoration.

Ben has unrivalled experience of rebuilds, bodywork, modifications – and good old servicing too! Ben’s years in the trade cover the entire spectrum of Land Rovers, but he now focuses on Series vehicles, Forward Controls, Defenders, Range Rovers and Discovery’s, built from 1948 to 1998.

Black Paw restorations are regularly featured in UK Land Rover magazines, and Ben enjoys a nationwide reputation for the high quality of his work. Valued clients include Nick Dimbleby, the Prince of Bahrain… and some big names who must remain confidential!

Recent accolades include the trophy for ‘Best Restoration’, awarded at the Series One Club rally at Anglesey in Summer 2018.

When he’s not in the workshop, Ben likes to put Land Rovers to the kind of work they were designed for. He is an active member in the Camel Trophy Owners Club, and has driven his own Land Rovers on expeditions to many countries and continents.

The business was originally founded as York Land Rover Services (known to many as YLS) back in 2003. At the request of Land Rover UK, the name was changed to Black Paw 4×4 in 2013.
